Achterhoek villages: Hengelo, Ruurlo and the castle village of Vorden

Your route starts at Eetcafe Jansen en Jansen in Hengelo in the Achterhoek region. First, you cycle straight through the nature reserve Het Oude Schot towards Ruurlo. Here you pass the Ruurlo Doolhof, the largest maze in the Netherlands with 1188 metres of paths. Then you cross the Baakse Beek. From Ruurlo you cycle to the castle village of Vorden, where you will find eight castles. Vorden Castle is located on the edge of the village, the other seven are in a circle around it. A little later you cycle past De Kiefskamp Castle, the only castle in Vorden that does not date from the Middle Ages. The current house was built in 1776, in Louis XVI style. The estate borders the estate of Vorden Castle. Then you cycle back to Hengelo.
