The Pearl of the Veluwe

This route starts on the edge of the Veluwe, a stone's throw from the Veluwemeer"Strand Horst\\\", in the peaceful village of Ermelo. One of the pearls of the Veluwe. Bordered by extensive forests, rolling heathlands and meadows, where you can cycle to your heart's content. From Ermelo you cycle into the nature reserves around Ermelo. These have extensive cycle paths and are ideal for anyone who wants to relax in the great outdoors. Adventurous too. Because here you can still see the animals of the forest in the wild: Roe deer, deer, wild boars and small game. The forest is also rich in birds, with no fewer than 65 different species breeding there. The kingfisher is sometimes spotted along the Leuvenumse Beek. Just before junction 86 you will find the Staverden mill and Staverden castle. The latter also has a visitor center with a landscape shop. Following the route further you will pass Garderen on the edge of the Veluwe forests. The surroundings are beautiful with the Speulder and Sprielder forests, the Stroese sand and the Kootwijk sand drifts. The last part of the route you cycle along the breathtaking Putterbos.
