Tour Castle Twickel and the Borkeld

Your route starts at Camping & Restaurant De Poppe. From here you cycle along the Borkeld, with an authentic piece of raised moor: the Elsenerveld and -veen. You drive all the way to Delden. The absolute showpiece here is Landgoed Twickel: the largest private estate in the Netherlands, with an imposing old castle with forecourt, gardens and outbuildings. There are about one hundred and fifty farms on the estate, recognizable by their black and white shutters, and other buildings such as the water tower and the sawmill. The estate is surrounded by extensive forests where you can enjoy cycling. Bentelo is beautifully situated in the middle of Twente's coulisse landscape with its wooded banks and heaths. You cycle back to your starting point via the town of Goor. This cozy town has a number of beautiful buildings, such as the Hofkerk, which originally dates from 1600.
