Tour through and around Hoogeveen

This cycling route starts at Familiecamping Hendrikswijkje, near Hoogeveen. The history of Hoogeveen begins in the year 1551. In the center, especially around the old cross, there are still some of the oldest houses with beautiful facades, such as the House with the Duivengaten (now a restaurant) and the former drugstore with a facade stone from 1703 (nowadays a house and a clothing store). In the facade, probably the oldest in Hoogeveen, you see a facade stone with the text"So God for us is Who will against us syn\\\". The Olde Schippershuus is the oldest existing building in Hoogeveen, with a core dating from 1632/1633. During this cycle route you will also pass the De Zwaluw mill. Tiendeveen owes its name to an agreement that one-tenth of peat could be dug.
