Along the Old IJssel

The Oude IJssel is a tributary of the river IJssel. The river begins in Germany under the name Issel and flows into the IJssel at Doesburg. This route takes you past historic places along the Oude IJssel, such as Laag Keppel, Doesburg and Doetinchem. Your route starts in Doetinchem, at the Walmolen. This is a windmill that stands on the ramparts of a walled city. Laag Keppel is home to one of the largest and most beautiful castles in the Achterhoek: Kasteel Keppel.
