Description
For a day of cycling along vineyards you don't have to go to France or Germany, but just go to the Achterhoek. This route takes you to no fewer than six vineyards! You get the beautiful Winterswijk National Landscape as a bonus!
The Oliemölle
After you have jumped on the saddle, you quickly drive through Winterswijk. Along the course of the Slinge stream you pass De Oliemölle, a former double water mill that originally dates from the fourteenth century. Take a moment to enjoy this picturesque picture. Further on is the Venemansmolen, a flour mill from 1898.
National Landscape
In the countryside you drive through the Winterswijk National Landscape. Here you will see a beautiful mix of grasslands, forests, stream valleys and hedgerows. What is immediately striking here: the tranquility! The route also takes you through picturesque towns such as Aalten and Lichtenvoorde. Groenlo was a fortified town for centuries. There are a number of sights in the center, such as the Old Calixtus Church, which was built between 1275 and 1520. There is so much to experience in the Achterhoek!
