From here you will discover the Weerribben, part of the De Weerribben-De Wieden national park. The area consists of open water, reed lands and swamp forests that cover no less than 35 square kilometers. Part of the Weerribben is used for reed cultivation, in these places you will see acid-loving trees such as alder, rowan and birch. The Ossenzijl mill is also on the route. This tjasker mill is still relatively young compared to other mills in the Netherlands and was only built in 1977. It still performs its function and is used to supply the underlying polder land with water. The mill can be approached within a few meters and cannot be overlooked because it is located in an open area.
