Tour of monasteries at Boswachterij Dorst

Your cycling route starts at the cycling junction route between Boswachterij Dorst, the Chaamse Bossen and the Prinsenbos. A popular address for cyclists! The extensive Dorst Forestry mainly consists of Scots pine trees that were planted at the beginning of the 19th century. Remnants of heather and deciduous forests can be seen in the area. The Blue Camer was founded around 1400. The basis for the still existing Norbertine Priory of Sint-Catharinadal was formed in 1271 by seven sisters from Vroenhout. The castle came into the hands of the Johannieter knights around the fifteenth century. About one hundred and fifty years later the building became a monastery. St. Paul's Abbey is one of three abbeys in the Holy Triangle, an area east of Oosterhout. The abbey was founded by French monks in 1910.
