Description

Your cycling route begins at the cycle junction route between Dorst Forest, the Chaam Forests, and the Prinsenbos. A popular destination for cyclists! The expansive Dorst Forest consists primarily of Scots pines planted in the early 19th century. Remnants of heathland and deciduous woodlands can be seen in the area. The Blauwe Camer (Blue Room) was built around 1400. The foundation for the Norbertine Priory of Sint-Catharinadal, which still exists today, was laid as early as 1271 by seven sisters from Vroenhout. Around the fifteenth century, the castle came into the hands of the Knights of St. John. About a hundred and fifty years later, the building became a monastery. St. Paul's Abbey is one of three abbeys in the Holy Triangle, an area east of Oosterhout. The abbey was founded by French monks in 1910.
