Description
The Barony of Breda is a vast nature reserve on the southeastern edge of Breda. Here you will find extensive forests, heathlands and the idyllic Markdal.
Chaamse Bossen
The route starts in the middle of the Sint-Annabos, one of the centuries-old forests that are part of the Barony of Breda. Then you cycle through the Chaamse Bossen. Where there were once sand drifts and wet heathland, a varied forest area was created between 1900 and 1934. Take a deep breath and smell the fresh air.
Markdal
In Chaam you will see the monumental Town Hall, and on the other side of the road is the sixteenth-century Ledevaert Church. On the Strijbeekse Heide you will find a mix of conifers, fens and heath. It is wonderfully quiet here, ideal for a day of relaxation. Further on you will pass the Sint-Hubertus Chapel from 1872. In Ulvenhout you will see, among other things, the Korenbloem from 1909. Cycling along the meandering Mark is wonderful, with a beautiful view of flower-filled meadows.
