Loonse en Drunense Dunes National Park is more than just the vast drifting sands for which the area is known. It comprises the Loonse en Drunense Dunes, De Brand, and several other smaller areas. The drifting sand in this park is truly free to roam. Such drifting sand is found nowhere else in Europe on such a large scale. Around it, you cycle through fresh-smelling coniferous forests, which keep the sand in check. Combined with the streams and marshes, this means you can fully enjoy natural beauty. Within the forest lies Giersbergen, a hamlet whose history dates back to the Middle Ages. Here you'll see several beautiful old thatched farmhouses with long gables. In Udenhout, you'll pass De Strijdhoeve castle, a manor house dating from around 1760. Along the way, stop at the recreation center 't Blauwe Schaap!
