Tour of Bracken and Workum

Along the way you will pass through villages and past mills and lakes, marinas and museums. First you drive past the Vlakke Bracken and the Oudegaaster Bracken. The name'break\\\' means something like'land broken by water\\\'. These waters are often created by erosion, washing or peatification. There are beautiful windmills along the bridges such as Doris Mooltsje, a spider's head from 1790. You pass through Gaastmeer where you see the Peter Sijperda Marina. As you cycle past the vast meadows, you enjoy the refreshing silence. Just before Workum you pass the Nylânner mill: a polder mill from 1784. In the town itself you drive through the center, which enjoys a protected village view. You will see beautiful buildings such as the former town hall, the weighing house and the St. Gertrude Church.
