Water route Barendrecht

Your cycling route starts at TOP Barendrecht. Take a look at the information panel to find out more about the recently constructed recreation area Zuidpolder Landscape Park. From here you follow the Oude Maas to Heerjansdam. Although the Maas now starts in a completely different place, the historic mouth of the Maas is formed by the Oude Maas.  You cycle back through Zuidpolder Landscape Park, where you will still find relatively open polders and water-rich nature reserves. In the second part of the route you will discover the Jan Gerritsepolder, an agricultural area that was used as a construction dock for the Heinenoord tunnel. Now you will find a nature and recreation area with a lookout hill, the Gaatkensbult. You can watch beautiful birds here!
