Water route Barendrecht

Your cycle route starts at TOP Barendrecht. Take a look at the information panel to find out more about the recently constructed recreation area Landscape Park Zuidpolder. From here you follow the Oude Maas to Heerjansdam. Although the Maas today starts in a completely different place, the historic mouth of the Maas is formed by the Oude Maas.  You cycle back through Landscape Park Zuidpolder, where you will still find relatively open polders and water-rich nature reserves. The second part of the route you will discover the Jan Gerritsepolder, an agricultural area that has been used as a construction dock for the Heinenoordtunnel. Now you will find a nature and recreation area with a lookout hill, theGaatsensbult. You can watch beautiful birds here!
