Description

You cycle out of Ridderkerk over the nice Ringdijk. Then you take the ferry to the Kinderdijkse Molens, nineteen polder mills that form two mill corridors. They were built in the eighteenth century to improve the drainage of the Alblasserwaard. The mills have been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1997. The route takes you along the Hooge Boezem of the Overwaard, one of the polders drained by the mills. A typical Dutch view that you can enjoy at your leisure from your bike. From Groot-Ammers you follow the Lek back to the picturesque Kinderdijk, where you take the ferry again to Ridderkerk. You cross the Lek and Oude Maas, with a view of the De Noord river.
