Description

You walk east via the Cadetten Kamp nature reserve. In addition to forests, you can also see a beautiful sand drift here. On the other side of the highway you will discover the extensive forest area Boswachterij Dorst. It consists mainly of Scots pine trees that were planted in the early nineteenth century. Remnants of heather and deciduous forests can be seen in the area. Many trees were cut down in the mid-nineteenth century because the 1,117 hectare area was used as a military training area. This caused many sand drifts. Exmoor ponies and Scottish Highlanders now graze on the heathland and naturally maintain the vegetation.
