Tour of Zuidpolder Landscape Park and Oude Maas

This walking route starts with a cup of coffee at Pannekoekenhuis Oude Maas. You'll come back here soon, so you can probably choose a delicious pancake for lunch! First you follow the Oude Maas towards Heerjansdam. Although the Maas now starts in a completely different place, the historic mouth of the Maas is formed by the Oude Maas. You walk back past Zuidpolder Landscape Park, where you will still find relatively open polders and water-rich nature reserves. Take a look at the information panel at TOP Barendrecht to find out more about this recently constructed recreational area. During the second part of the walk you will discover the beautiful old bridge keeper's house - nearby there used to be a bridge over the Maas, the largest lift bridge in Europe. Now you will find the Heinenoordtunnel nearby.
