Tour of heath and Zeisterbossen

Walking far along the Slotlaan you will see some beautiful buildings, with the monumental Walkartpark from 1905 on your right. From Zeist you can walk straight into the Zeisterbos. An old forest by Dutch standards, as the trees are more than 200 years old. The forest floor is covered with, among other things, Solomon's seal, bilberry, mountain ash and honeysuckle. Just after a rain shower, this produces wonderful scents! Numerous birds have their home here, such as the tawny owl. You will also pass a piece of heath. At the beginning of the nineteenth century this was still one large heathland, when the French army built Kamp Zeist here.
