Description

After a cup of coffee at De Steengraven you get on your bike. You first cycle to Villa Anneville, the residence of Queen Wilhelmina for a short time. She camped here with, among others, Erik Hazelhoff Roelfzema, the Soldier of Orange. Prince Berhard also lived here for a while. Further on you come close to the recreational area't Zand in Alphen, a beautiful beach with natural swimming water. Your route also takes you through the Chaamse Bossen. The area you walk through once consisted of sand drifts, wet heathland and fens planted with Scots pine. The original fens were later excavated, creating new swamp areas. Due to these developments, you can now find more animals and plants in the Chaamse Bossen, including all kinds of birds and salamanders.
