This cycle route is from
Regional Landscape de Voorkempen, Brabant Landscape, Brabantse Wal, VVV Roosendaal Municipality of Roosendaal and Bergen op Zoom.
Along the way you will become acquainted with old peat canals such as the Moervaart, better known as the Zoom, Nispense Vaart and the Natte or Elderse Turfvaart. At the height of peat extraction, there were 350 kilometers of peat canals in western North Brabant and the Belgian Noorderkempen. All dug by hand. Sometimes a peat canal crosses a stream such as the Molenbeek near Nispen and an aqueduct was necessary. In 2017, a new bridge was built over the Molenbeek, inspired by this historical situation.
