Afferden tour between forests, heathland and the Maas

About 26 kilometers south of Nijmegen and 12 kilometers north of Venray lies Afferden. In this Limburg church village on the Maas you start a beautiful walk of more than seven kilometers through one of the gems of the Netherlands. The walk leads you across the heathlands and forests of the De Maasduinen National Park. Do you spot the rare nightjar along the way? It still lives here! The area is also home to more than thirty different butterfly species, including the common blue and the small kingfisher butterfly. You start and end the walk at the cozy Eetwinkel Het Eendje in Afferden. Of course not after a fresh cup of coffee with a pastry, or a well-deserved drink afterwards.
