In the middle of a varied landscape with orchards, meadows, willows and reed fields, the Linge, the longest river in the Netherlands, flows for 108 km. The River Linge and its floodplains, dikes and dike villages form a unique, fairytale-like landscape where you can enjoy a breath of fresh air. First you explore the area around Rietveld and Arkel. With the Carolinge Bicycle and Foot Ferry you cross the Linge from Arkel to Spijk. This charming ferry service has a long history. At the ferry you will also find a tearoom with a small menu and a terrace where you can relax for a break. Then you explore the area around Spijk and walk through the Lingebos. Sand was extracted from the Lingebos area for the construction of the cloverleaf near Gorinchem. This created a recreational lake.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
