City walk IJsselstein

Put on your sturdy walking shoes for a route through IJsselstein and the countryside. First, you explore the city centre. This is a protected cityscape due to the many well-preserved old buildings. You will pass the Old St. Nicholas Church, a Gothic building that originally dates from 1310. The tower was built in Renaissance style around 1535. At junction 23, the Fire Engine House from 1622 is on the left of the road. Then you walk along the rippling water of the Hollande IJssel for a while. You will pass a striking water tower from 1911 here. Then you walk through the IJsselbos and along the meadows that lie around the water a little later. Back in IJsselstein, you will see the St. Nicholas Basilica from 1887 and the eighteenth-century Waag. The route ends at Hotel Epping.
