City walk IJsselstein

Put on your sturdy walking shoes for a route through IJsselstein and the countryside. First you explore the city center. This enjoys a protected cityscape because of the many well-preserved old buildings. Here you will pass the Oude Sint-Nicolaaskerk, a Gothic building that originally dates from 1310. The tower was built around 1535 in Renaissance style. At junction 23, the fire spray house from 1622 is on the left of the road. You then walk along the rippling water of the Hollande IJssel. You pass a striking water tower from 1911. You then walk through the IJsselbos and along the meadows that surround the water a little later. Back in IJsselstein you can see, among other things, the Sint-Nicolaas Basilica from 1887 and the eighteenth-century Waag. The route ends at Hotel Epping.
