Gartenreich Route Fürst Franz

A beautiful route around the Bauhaus city of Dessau that connects the castles and parks in the park landscape of Dessau-Wörlitz. The 68 km long bypass is named after the monarch and duke Leopold III Frederik Frans of Anhalt-Dessau (1740-1817). Already at the age of 18 he ruled Anhalt-Dessau. Because of his modern way of governing, he was also called 'father Frans'. Frans was best known for his landscaping, with the Dessau-Wörlitz park landscape being his best known project.

You can start the Gartenreich route at any point. You cycle through the unique river landscape around the Elbe. Along the way you will discover the most beautiful castles and other architectural gems. Tip for the road: the Wörlitzer Park, which has been on the UNESCO heritage list since 2000. Here you can relax, take a walk or a round of pedal boats.
