The first ships passed through here in 1923. At that point, the water seemed to have already lost its function. Freight traffic came, saw and seemed to be victorious. In the 1950s, the canal proved its usefulness for the supply and transit of sand, gravel and coal. Thanks to the growth of inland shipping traffic, it is still very busy. You leave the water for what it is and walk into the stream valley of the Reusel. Ponds, creeks and forests form the beautiful landscape. After about seven kilometers you will arrive back at your starting point.
