Historic figure eight near Son en Breugel

After a cup of coffee on the waterfront terrace of De Sonse Haven, you'll lace up your walking shoes. You'll first follow the Wilhelmina Canal, which connects Tilburg and Eindhoven with the Meuse River. You'll walk through the hamlet of Hooionk with its typical Brabant longhouses. At Nederwetten, you'll pass the Oude Toren (Old Tower), a remnant of the 15th-century St. Lambertus Church. Then you'll cross the beautifully meandering Dommel River. Back at De Sonse Haven, you'll enjoy a delicious sandwich before continuing your walk. Stop briefly at listening spot L114: The Bridge or Your Life. Here, in 1944, the British built a Bailey bridge overnight during Operation Market Garden, immortalized in the film A Bridge Too Far. You'll walk through Son along the winding Grote Beek stream.
