Historical figure eight at Son en Breugel

After a cup of coffee on the terrace on the water of De Sonse Haven, put on your walking shoes. You first follow the Wilhelmina Canal, which connects Tilburg and Eindhoven with the Maas. You walk through the hamlet of Hooionk with its typical Brabant long-facade farms. At Nederwetten you pass the Old Tower, a remnant of the St. Lambertus Church from the 15th century. Then you cross the beautifully meandering Dommel. Back at De Sonse Haven you can enjoy a tasty sandwich before continuing your walk. Stop for a moment at listening point L114: The bridge or your life. Here the British built a Bailey bridge in one night in 1944 during Operation Market Garden, immortalized in the film A Bridge Too Far. You walk through Son along the winding Grote Beek.
