Cycling around Drachten

Get on your bike and discover Friesland at its most beautiful. Centuries-old landscapes of streams, hedgerows, heaths and grasslands. This picturesque scenic landscape is ideally suited for cycling: a new view awaits around every corner. The starting point of this route is Halte Leppedijk in Nij Beets. Sit down by the pond where you can enjoy a cup of coffee, tea or soft drinks with homemade cake. Enjoy the peace and the view over the pond. Via Nij Beets you cycle towards De Wilgen and Drachten. The area around Drachten used to be rich in raised peat and the Drachtster Compagnonsvaart was dug by removing the extracted peat. Via the green countryside you cycle back to Nij Beets via Urterp and Beetserzwaag.
