Description

From Bennebroek you drive to three connected estates: Woestduin, Vinkenduin and Leyduin. These country estates were once used as a summer residence by prominent Amsterdam families, but now it is wonderful to cycle through the park forest. Via the villa village of Aerdenhout you drive to the Zuid-Kennemerland National Park. You drive several kilometers through a mix of dune valleys and coniferous forests. In Santpoort-Zuid you will pass the ruins of the thirteenth-century Brederode Castle. Further on it is time for a pleasant stopover at Brasserie de Boemel. After a tasty snack, you drive along the quay of the Jan Gijzenvaart and from the Spaarne to Haarlem. In the historic heart of this town you will see many beautiful monumental buildings. You cycle out of the city along the Spaarne. You drive back to the starting point through the rural area of Heemstede.
