Polder tour along the Veenmolen near Wilnis

In the Ronde Venen you see perfectly straight plots where the cows graze quietly and the farms are picturesque. The windmills are also present: just outside Wilnis you will pass the Veenmolen. The flour mill was built in 1823 and operated on wind power until 1947. Then an electric motor was placed in it to drive the octagonal ground sail. The mill is still in working order and can be visited on Saturdays and by appointment. Then you walk into the polder, where the ditches draw dead straight lines through the landscape. Beautiful farms let you fantasize about an idyllic country life. Before you know it you'll be back in Wilnis.
