Description

This route takes you through the Dender region. The cycle route starts at junction 36 in Aalst. Aalst exudes the atmosphere of a true open-air museum with numerous historic buildings. You cycle a very large part of the route along the banks of the Dender. The Dender is 65 kilometers long and rises near Aat through the confluence of the Eastern Dender and the Western Dender. The river flows into Dendermonde. Enjoy the peace and greenery during this route. During this cycle route you cycle past the beautiful Aalst landscapes and various beautiful nature reserves. The Hogedonk nature reserve is located in the Dender valley, between Aalst and Dendermonde. It is a varied river landscape with moist lakes, reed fields, patches of forest and of course the Dender.
