Berlicum

Second loop through Aadal to Middelrode (Seldensate). The Seldensate estate used to have a farm, a gatehouse with a pigeon tower, a beer brewery and a playhouse called Seldensate. Currently, only the gatehouse with driveway, the pigeon tower and part of the brewery still exist. The farm no longer exists and all that remains of the castle is a ruin surrounded by a moat. The word Seldensate comes from the old term'seldene zathe\\\', which roughly translates as'special estate\\\' or'special country estate\\\'. Seldensate probably originated in the 14th century. The castle was a country retreat for wealthy residents of the city of 's-Hertogenbosch who fled the stench of the city in the summer months.
