Jo de Roo Cycling Route

This cycling tour would appeal to Jo de Roo. The cyclist has won quite a few stages purely on stubborn Zeeland willpower and a bit of perseverance is needed for this race with climbs, cobblestones and sections outside the dike. During this route you will visit South Beveland with its many orchards and a part of North Brabant and cycle along both the Eastern and Western Scheldt. De Roo did not like stage races; he enjoyed one-day races the most and he has won quite a few of them. He often won the sprint by storming from a position at the back to the front in one go. His peak years were 1962 and 1963. Then he won the Tour of Lombardy and Paris-Tours twice. He also became Dutch champion twice and won the Tour of Flanders and Bordeaux-Paris. Tip: keep a good look around you on your way. Who knows, you might bump into De Roo on your way. The elderly cycling hero still cycles around Zuid-Beveland almost every day and before you know it, he will outsprint you completely out of nowhere.
