Your route starts at MyHotel Meppel. After just a few kilometers, you'll enter the Weerribben-Wieden National Park. At approximately 10,000 hectares, this is the largest contiguous wetland in Northwest Europe. You'll cycle through a labyrinth of mysterious-looking swamp forests, lakes, creeks, and flower-filled meadows. Water soldier and water lily grow in and around the waters. The fields are adorned with cuckoo flowers, orchids, and yellow irises. You'll also see tjasker mills, which were used to lower the water level. You'll pass through small water villages like Dwarsgracht. Beautiful spots, surrounded by nature! Cycle back to your starting point via the charming water village of Giethoorn. Don't forget to visit De Sterrenberg, a mill dating from 1786 in Nijeveen that was relocated from Weener, Germany, in the 1970s.
