Description
This route runs along the Vlaardingse Vaart.
Along the Vlaardingen canal you will see marshy riverbanks with special vegetation of orchids, cotton grass, small rattle and marsh sedge.
The route continues along the Boonervliet, which together with two other canals forms the Vlietlanden polder area.
Until the 1960s, the Broekpolder was a low-lying polder that was raised in the 1960s and 1970s with silt from the Rotterdam ports. It is one of the few areas in the area that are above NAP. A rough and rugged recreation area has developed on the harbour silt. Walking through the area, you may just come face to face with a Scottish highlander that ensures that the area remains open.

The last part of the route goes through a former production forest that has been converted into a play forest: the Klauterwoud. Here you will see play facilities and
climbing frames, where children in particular can romp around and where the motto is: getting dirty is allowed. The route ends again at the Polderpoort.

This bosom area dates from the time when the areas were parceled out and contains very valuable flora and fauna. Here too, you will find marshlands with special plants along the banks. After leaving the Boonervliet, the route continues along the Broekpolder, where you have a view over the Aalkeetbuitenpolder. Here you can experience the difference in height with the surroundings.
