Luther route Saxony
The"Luther Trail in Saxony\\\" leads like a spiritual circular walk through the scenic Leipzig region. It is marked with a green"L\\\" on a white background, the logo of the Luther Route, which is signposted in both directions. It is therefore possible to start anywhere with a tour through the varied landscape of the Leipzig region to the places of the Reformation.
Even today visible effects and impulses of the Reformation are visible. In the year 1519, the Leipzig Disputation took place in the Pleißenburg, which provided for the spread of Lutheran thought.
In Torgau, Eilenburg and Leipzig, citizenship began very early on the Reformation views. In Leisnig, Luther developed the caste system of Leisniger in 1523, the oldest Protestant social paper in the world.
Other points on the Luther Trail Saxony are closely associated with the strong women of the Reformation. Katharina von Bora, the later wife of Luther, lived in the monastery of Nimbschen near Grimma. After escaping from the monastery, she led the Zöllsdorf estate near Neukieritzsch and found her final resting place in Torgau.
In the towns of Rochlitz and Kriebstein, the Duchess Elisabeth of Saxonia worked and her energetic action enabled the introduction of the reform in her territory as early as 1537.
The Luther Trail Saxony is connected to the road network in Saxony-Anhalt and the Luther Trail in Thuringia. The Luther Way invites you to pause and rest, to find space for reflection and time for prayer in the footsteps of Martin Luther and his companions. It extends over about 550 kilometers of the beautiful, varied landscape of the Leipzig region past churches, palaces, castles and monasteries, from vast moorlands, forests and rivers, in the motherland of the Reformation.
