Tour of border views from De Holtweijde Estate

The base for this walking route is De Holtweijde Estate just outside Lattrop, a rustic village in Dinkelland in the northeast of Twente. You are close to the German border here, as you will see today. From junction 92 you walk straight across the border for a while. The area is a beautiful example of the Twente scenic landscape, in which unspoilt nature and farmland alternate in harmony. On your route you will pass some old half-timbered houses and Saxon farms. You will also see other historic buildings, such as the characteristic seventeenth-century East Dutch manor House te Breckelenkamp. The house can only be visited on open days or during public events. However, you can walk up the driveway under the old oak trees a bit, so that you can take a look at the building.
