Tour of border views from the De Holtweijde estate

The starting point for this walking route is Landgoed De Holtweijde just outside Lattrop, a rustic village in Dinkelland in the northeast of Twente. You are close to the German border here, as you will see today. From junction 92 you walk a bit straight over the border. The area is a beautiful example of the Twente coulisse landscape, in which unspoiled nature and farmland alternate in harmony. On your route you will pass several old half-timbered houses and Saxon farms. You will also see other historic buildings, such as the characteristic seventeenth-century East Netherlands manor Huis te Breckelenkamp. The house can only be visited on open days or during public events. You can, however, walk a bit under the old oaks through the driveway, so that you can take a look at the building.
