Description

In West Friesland you will find many beautiful authentic villages. First you drive through Lutjebroek, Grootebroek and Bovenkarspel, three villages that have grown together. You will see beautiful churches and other monumental buildings. There is another monumental transfer in Broekerhaven: an installation to tow a ship over land from one body of water to another. This was done to bridge a difference in water level. You drive through the vast polder land to Blokker, an old village that now borders Hoorn. Here you will see some monumental bell-shaped farmhouses, such as the Good Samaritan from 1659. Further on you will pass the Krijgsman Windmill: its two predecessors died due to wind and lightning. Via Hoogkarspel you drive back to Fruitkwekerij't Keetje. Time for a terrace.
