The connection between the city of Leipzig and the popular Elbe cycle route is guaranteed via the 80-kilometre Leipzig-Elbe cycle route. Villages and rural beauty alternate along the route. Wide meadows, forests, ponds and charming river meadows dominate the picture.

Numerous windmills, beautiful castles and interesting village churches line the route, which is mainly on a country road with little traffic. Particularly attractive are the sections of the route that lead the cyclist through the Dahlener Heide, where forests alternate with idyllic ponds.

In between, the landscaped park of Schloss Machern, which Carl Graf von Lindenau created in 1782, offers as much variety as the numerous Saxon village churches of the historic town of Wurzen, whose mills can be seen from afar. In general, the wetland area has a number of windmills - as well as many opportunities to take a break at forest baths and lakes.

The cycle route starts in Leipzig. Continue towards Brandis, where the outer green ring cycle route and the Parthe-Mulde cycle route are intersected.

The cycle path cycle path leads to Wurzen. In Wurzen there is a connection to the Mulderadweg between Grimma and Muldenstein. The route continues via Lossatal and Dahlen to Schirmenitz. On the way, the Dahlener Heide cycle route in Schildau crosses the Leipzig-Elbe cycle route.
