Around Schalkwijk

You can take a refreshing walk on the Island of Schalkwijk. First you walk along the Schalkwijkse Wetering. Along the water are many trees and some beautiful old farms. In Schalkwijk you pass the Brink. You can walk in here to taste the historic atmosphere. You will find a few monumental buildings, the Reformed Church dates from 1804, although the tower dates back to the Middle Ages. Further on you pass the small walking park with garden complex that is located on the site of the former Kasteel Schalkwijk. In the wide polders you can get a breath of fresh air while you walk on the leafy and quiet roads. It is still old-fashioned quiet here, so an ideal route to relax.
