Route through Nieuwpoort Belgium along the mouth of the IJzer river.

Here you come to the mouth of the IJzer, take a look at the beautiful view from the bridge!

After this you will cross the Kaai: a beautifully renovated square with 73 fountains and a contemporary tram station.

On the Handelskaai you can see the active fish auction. Visits possible on request.

Then we pass the Polar Traveler, statue in honor of born Nieuwpoort resident and honorary citizen Dixie Dansercoer.

There is a lookout tower in the water at junction 84, where you can see the seals on the beach on the other side. on the right the Prins Mauritspark, at junction 85 the crossing to the  old sea dike through the De Ijzermonding nature reserve. This is a nature reserve that is created by the mixing of fresh iron water and salty sea water  is unique. Enjoy the beautiful views before passing the Novus Portus marina, the largest marina in Europe.

On your right you will find the Albert I monument, a memorial for King Albert I and the heroes of the Yser.

Enjoy a few more beautiful  views and walk back to the campsite.
