Tour of Ooijpolder and Millingerwaard

Your cycling route begins with a cup of coffee at the centrally located Van der Valk Hotel Nijmegen-Lent. Then you'll hop on your bike for this scenic route along and across Western Europe's busiest river. Along the way, you'll discover several opportunities to refuel. On the other side of the Waal River, you'll cycle straight through the Ooijpolder and Millingerwaard nature reserves. The Ooijpolder is a former marshland. Several authentic terp farms recall a time when the dikes offered less protection against rising river waters. From the polder, you'll have a beautiful view of Nijmegen and the surrounding hills rising into the landscape. It's impossible to get lost: follow the river and you'll always find your way home!
