The Star of Dwingeloo route Spier

This route takes you through Dwingelderveld National Park. You start at B&B De Ster van Dwingeloo, a special accommodation in Dwingeloo. You can spend the night here in the Star Studio: through the skylight you can see thousands of stars in the sky on a clear night. Under the influence of changing climatic conditions, such as the penultimate Ice Age, a soil was formed in the national park with many stones, boulders, gravel and sand. The clay loam layer makes the area so special: rare and endangered flora and fauna can settle in the area. The extensive moist heathland of the Dwingelderveld is the largest and best developed in Western Europe. Wet troughs and dry sand ridges alternate. This route is ideal for anyone who wants to relax in the peace and space of Drenthe.
