Description

Your route starts at Hudson Katwijk in Katwijk aan Zee, a household name for those who love good food. Then you cycle along the edge of the dunes to Zee. De Vuurbaak dates from 1605: it is the second oldest lighthouse in the Netherlands. A little further on you will see the white Andreaskerk from 1461, the only church in the Netherlands that is right on the boulevard. You cycle inland again along the marina, for a nice tour through the polder. You will pass Kasteel Oud Teylingen (now a ruin), built around 1275 by Dirk van Teylingen. It was dedicated to Floris van Henegouwen: it had to be available to the count of Holland at all times and could not be used against him. Via Rijnsburg you cycle back to your starting point.
