Discover island life on Tiengemeten

Hikers step off the ferry every day in the harbour of Tiengemeten. Flowery meadows, nostalgic countryside and marshy reed land. On this island just below Rotterdam you imagine yourself on the farmland of the 19th century. Along the way you will encounter cattle and beavers. The creeks on the island are important for water insects and fish. This in turn attracts numerous birds that look for food here. In the meantime, nesting sea eagles can also be seen and the beaver has built its castle there. Halfway through the walk you will arrive at Herberg Tiengemeten. What is an inn without food and drink? Enjoy a delicious lunch or overnight stay here. After about six kilometres you will arrive back at the ferry. Time to spare? Visit the Rien Poortvliet Museum. A beautiful museum of the nature painter of the same name.
