This more than forty-kilometer-long bike ride through a typically Dutch water landscape and past centuries-old fortresses starts from here. After crossing Bussum, you arrive in the beautiful fortified town of Naarden. This is one of the best preserved fortified towns in Europe. Just outside Naarden you cycle past Fort Ronduit. This fort was built as an extra defense for the fortified city. Your tour continues to the Muiderslot. This medieval castle, located in Muiden, was built around 1296. Via the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal and Nigtevecht you continue the route along the Ankeveense Plassen. It is not without reason that this nature reserve is so popular among water sports enthusiasts, hikers and cyclists.
