Your cycling route starts with a cup of coffee at Eetcafé de Notaris in Schaijk. You drive straight into the Maashorst, a vast nature reserve of coniferous forests and heathlands. The name refers to the Maas that flowed here 125,000 years ago. Picturesque villages make a pleasant change from the greenery and the cultivated land seems to fit seamlessly into the pieces of unspoilt nature you encounter along the way. Only a gatehouse remains of the Assendelft Berlicum castle, but it is a beautiful place. Further on, you can have a drink at Eetcafé de Prins in Berlicum before cycling back.
