On the Utrechtse Heuvelrug you can admire plenty of country estates while you drive through the vast forests. In the Kromme Rijn region, peace and cultural history alternate.<b>Roman tower</b>At the Farm Shop Nooit Gedacht you can buy a healthy snack for the road, always nice for a picnic! First you drive through the polders. Let your legs loosen up while you look out over a quintessential Dutch landscape of meadows and cows. Just past junction 98 you pass Fort Vechten, the second largest fort in the New Dutch Waterline. There is also a replica of a Roman watchtower here.<b>Kromme Rijnstreek</b>Just after Bunnik you drive through the forests of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. Here you can enjoy miles of paths that lead you through deciduous and coniferous trees. It will not surprise you that this beautiful region is rich in country estates. The last part of the route takes you through the vast landscape of the Kromme Rijn region. You come here through the picturesque Werkhoven. At Boerderijwinkel Nooit Gedacht you can enjoy a coffee and something tasty in the orchard.
