Tour of Halfweg and Houtrak

After a cup of coffee at Brasserie Halverwege, put on your walking shoes. You first walk through the Houtrak, which is part of the Spaarnwoude nature and recreation area. It is a beautiful mosaic of forest, flowery bushes and watercourses. In Halfweg you will pass the former sugar factory, now the SugarCity site with offices in the old sugar silos. From the other side of the water you can see it beautifully, just like Museum Stoomgemaal Halfweg. Then you cross Zijkanaal F via a cyclist bridge, which used to be the connection between Halfweg and the North Sea Canal. Now you see a lot of houseboats there.
