Cycling route: 1018019

During this cycling tour you will discover the area around the Lauwersmeer and Dokkum. The Lauwersmeer is known as a bird paradise on a former seabed. In earlier times, fresh and salt water flowed into each other in the Lauwerszee. Fear of flooding led to the construction of a dam in 1969. A beautiful new landscape emerged on the former seabed, a real bird paradise. In short: a wonderful area for cycling. Also take a look at the lookout points and birdwatching huts. Once you have made a round around the lake, follow the route to Dokkum, one of the Frisian eleven cities.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
