Description

About 125,000 years ago the Maas flowed through this area. Now the area is characterized by forests, heathlands, sand plains and fens. The Maashorst still owes its name to the river. This ten-kilometer hike takes you through the pearls of this nature reserve. After about five kilometers you arrive at the Slabroek Nature Center. Here you will find an exhibition about the Maashorst in a monumental farm. You continue your walk south. With a bit of luck you will spot the moor frog, bison, swallows and larks along the way.
