Description
About 125,000 years ago, the Maas flowed through this area. Now the area is characterized by forests, heathlands, sandy plains and fens. The Maashorst still owes its name to the river. This ten-kilometer long walk guides you through the pearls of this nature reserve. After about five kilometers you will arrive at Natuurcentrum Slabroek. In a monumental farm you will find an exhibition about the Maashorst. You continue your walk in a southerly direction. With a bit of luck you will spot the moor frog, bison, swallows and larks along the way.
