Klundert played a crucial role in the southern defense line against the Spanish. Unfortunately, the city has had to deal with devastating fires and flooding several times. Fortunately, the fortifications around the city have been well preserved or restored, so you can still get a glimpse into the past. After a visit to Klundert you continue your walk to Zevenbergen. The history of this city shows remarkable resilience, as it has grown into a prosperous sugar town despite war and floods.
