History tour

The route starts at De Negende Zaeligheyt, a nice restaurant where regional products are prepared with love every day. Napoleon's armies marched on the historic sandy paths of the Cartierheide and the forests were the territory of smugglers for centuries. In addition to various heather species, you will find the fritillary butterfly and viviparous lizard. You also walk through the Peelse Heide nature reserve, which mainly consists of Scots pine, fens and heath. During the construction of the area, a municipal official, inspired during a trip to Paris, came up with the idea of creating two circles in the forest. In terms of dimensions, the paths are a copy of the Place de l\\\'Etoile and the Place de la Concorde with the Champs Elysées in between. You end the route again at Natuurpoort De Negende Zaeligheyt.
